DAMAS (DAVE) DUPUIS October 6, 1932 - October 12, 2006 After a very active life, on Thursday, October 12, 2006, Damas (Dave) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 74. Dave was predeceased unexpectedly by his dearly beloved wife of 52 years, Sally (née Fisette) on January 17, 2006. He was also predeceased by his foster son Louis Meconse. Dave is survived by his five children, Paul (Carol), Jules (Sandra), Rolly (Rachel), Denise, and Irene (Al Trudeau); grandchildren, Suzanne, Melissa, Amanda, Brigitte, Nadine, Kevin, Roger, Ken; great-grandchild Renée; Rachel's children, Jesse and Jayme Laramée. Also surviving and very dear to him are his sister, Doris Starink; his brother Joe (Mona); and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews whose visits he always welcomed. As well, Dave and Sally fostered many children and loved them as their own; Louis Meconse and Robert Nolin have always had a very special place in their heart. Dave, son of Marcel and Amanda (Johnson) was born in Lorette and lived his entire life on the family farm. He loved working the land and trusted in God to help them through tough times. He was grateful for his wife's and children's help along the years as they grew up and took joy in working with them. His community was important to him and this led to a seven year term as School Trustee in Lorette East School District. Dave was a school bus driver and he enjoyed the rapport with the many children that boarded his bus during 31 great years with the Seine River School Division. Dave always looked forward to snow-mobiling, fishing and camping with his immediate and extended family. However, NOTHING surpassed the pleasure of his many motorcycle tours throughout Canada and the U.S. with his dear wife and friends, Romeo and Odile Desorcy. Dave was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge with friends and family. It was a pleasure for him to clear his neighbours' and relatives' driveways and he would often arrive before the highway was plowed. His joie de vivre' and his many stories will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his family, friends, and coffee buddies . The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia, the nursing and support staff at St. Boniface Hospital; especially for the compassion and care given by the staff on 7A south, during his final days. A special thanks to Father Armand Legal of Lorette Parish for his kind support. The many visits and words of encouragement by family and friends were so appreciated by Dave and your prayers helped him tremendously. A celebration of Dave's life will be held at the Notre Dame de Lorette Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
