Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTONINA (ETTA) MELNYK (nee SKIBA) 1916 - 2006 On October 13, 2006, our beloved mother, Baba and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband John; infant son William; parents; sister Minnie; brothers, Steve, Bill and Walter. Mother is survived by six children, Gerri (Jonathan), John (Nadine), Barbara (Peter), Donald (Judi), Phyllis (Barry) Wally (Brenda); nine grandchildren and five great-grand-children. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg. As a young lady she sang in many Ukrainian musicals for she had a beautiful soprano voice and was well know for it. Mom loved cooking, baking, crafts and gardening. She especially enjoyed visits from her family. She looked forward each Thursday to attending Middlechurch Day Program. This was the highlight of her week. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers at Middlechurch. The family would also like to thank the nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital for their compassion and care. A special thank you to Sandy Slonosky, Sharon Appler and the rest of the Home Care Team. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Etta's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. MOM You are the Mother we were blessed with. We just want to thank you for all you did for us. You were our strength, mentor and confidant and always had time to listen. You taught us about love and family. We know you are free of pain now and in His care. We love you.
