HELLEN CHICK Peacefully, on October 12, 2006, at Concordia Place, our beloved aunt, sister and friend, Hellen Chick, passed away at age 81 years. Hellen leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her brother, Walter (Allison) Chick, sister Beth (Alex) Klatt, many nieces, nephews and good friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Steven; sisters, Irene and Anne and nephew, Walter Jr. Born in Winnipeg on April 4, 1925 to Steven and Mary Chick, Hellen was raised and received her schooling in the Transcona area. Hellen later made her home in East Kildonan. An avid reader and skilled seamstress, Hellen also loved to travel. She had been an active member of the Elim Chapel. During her working career, Hellen had been employed with Manitoba Telephone System from 1943 to 1987, where she worked her way from operator to executive secretary. She retired from this position after almost 45 years of loyal service. During this time Hellen maintained her ongoing interest of improving her own education through varied courses. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Concordia Place, with special thanks to Chaplain John Friesen, for the care and compassion extended to Hellen. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations in Hellen's memory may be made to a charity of choice. God has you in His keeping, We have you in our hearts...
