JAN BONING Jan passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday October 13, 2006 at the age of 75. Jan was born in Amsterdam, Holland in 1931 and was predeceased by his parents, his brother and his sister. Jan is survived by his loving wife Sigrid, his sons Frieso (Susan), Chris and David (Larissa) and his grandchildren Willem, Rosalind, Claire and Merritt. Also, his sister Mien and her family in Holland. Jan moved to Canada in 1957 and he and Sigrid were married in Winnipeg. Upon their arrival Jan continued his work in the graphic arts field. He worked very hard for many years and established his own business Omniscreen in 1977. Omniscreen is still a family run business today. Jan was a talented and accomplished artist well recognized by his peers. He served as president of the Manitoba Society of Artists in the 1970's and had just recently come full circle to lead them again in 2006. Jan was an artist all of his life, earlier this spring he held a show of his most recent drawings. Jan had a kind and generous spirit and a Dutch sense of humour. He supported all of the people that he loved and cared about in countless ways. He will be deeply missed. Please join the family at a memorial reception in celebration of Jan's life on Wednesday, October 18 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 61 Picardy Place.
