JEAN MACPHERSON
Date of Passing: Oct 13, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MACPHERSON Peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Concordia Place Care Centre, where Jean had been a resident since 2000. Recently, her asthma attacks became more frequent and her general health declined. Jean was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Richard Macpherson and her brother, Donald, in his early childhood. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her dear and faithful friends, June Anderson, Margaret Long, Barbara McKenzie, and Laurel Whitney who were frequent and regular visitors to Jean in the nursing home. Barbara Mackay (widow of Richard, Jean's cousin) fondly looked after Jean's affairs as the Court appointed Committee. Jean will also be remembered with love by cousins in Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia. Jean worked for United Grain Growers (now Agricore) for 40 years retiring in 1990 as a highly regarded Administrative Assistant. Jean served as President of the Professional Secretaries International in the 1980s. She was an active member of Knox United Church and served as an Elder for many years, as well as on the Worship Committee and the Board. A keen Bridge player and in her own opinion a Bridge addict; she also claimed to be the oldest living and most ardent Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan. Jean also loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to the United States, U.K., Egypt and many other exotic places with her friends Margaret Long and Joyce Clark. A friend of Jean's, Rev. Don Wilson will conduct the services for Jean which will be held on Thursday, October 19 with interment of ashes at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4777 Main St., at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service celebrating Jean's life at Thomson Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. If friends wish, donations in Jean's memory may be made to Knox United Church, The DuVal Foundation, c/o Knox United, The Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Sincere thanks to the staff and management at Concordia Place on both the first and third floors for their care and kindness to Jean over the years.
