LYLE STUART It is with sadness that the family of Lyle Duncan Stuart announces his passing on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital after a lengthy illness. Lyle was born in Winnipeg on Mach 23, 1931. He married Lucille Lafreniere on December 4, 1954 and had four sons; Bud, Jack, Bill and Tim. Lyle was employed with CP Rail as an operator for a number of years before moving to Dryden, ON to work as a safety supervisor for Dryden Chemicals. He was eventually transferred to Brandon, MB to help open a new plant for the company, which eventually became known as Canexus. He and his family also lived in Vancouver and Kitimat, BC during his employment in the chemical industry. Upon his retirement, Lyle worked as a private safety consultant and returned to Brandon where he and Lucy lived for a few years before moving to Winnipeg in 2002 to be closer to family. Lyle had an infectious sense of humour and a sharp wit. He was always cracking jokes, eliciting smiles and always teasing his family, especially his nine grandchildren. Lyle liked to paint, first in oils and more recently in watercolour as he rediscovered his interest in art after several years away for this hobby. He was also keenly interested in genealogy and enjoyed tracing family history with the help of his computer. In years past, Lyle also enjoyed raising German Shepherds and Labs, training the latter for field trials. Lyle's sons remember many outings in the field with their dad and the dogs. The Stuart family enjoyed camping every summer at Blue Lake, ON and particularly enjoyed a family camping trip to Mexico, which is always a source of many laughs and fond memories. Mourning the loss of Lyle are his wife, Lucy; sons, Bud (Eleanor) of Roland, Jack (Carolyn) of Brandon, Bill (Karen) of Orosi, CA, Tim (Janice) of Vancouver, BC; grandchildren, Nicole (Brandon), Tonya, Danielle, Hailey, Karlyn, Drew, Evan, Phillip and Adam; sister Amy Watt of Claresholm and brother James (Jeanette) of Winnipeg. There are numerous relatives - too many to list - that will miss Lyle's presence in the family. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Suzanne and Marcien, Denis and Annette, Lorette and Cecile L. During the last few years of Lyle's life and during an increasing decline in his health, these generous loved ones offered their tireless support to Lyle and Lucy and the family is forever grateful to them for being there when needed. The family also extends their sincere thanks to the staff on 5B of St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional care of Lyle during his many stays. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lyle's memory can be made to St. Boniface Hospital. A memorial reception celebrating Lyle's life will be held on Thursday, October 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Coutu Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
