MONICA G. DOLSINGH (nee ALI) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Monica Dolsingh, of Winnipeg and of Port of Spain, on Friday, October 13, 2006. Left to cherish her wonderful memory are her beloved and devoted husband of 57 years, Rupert; her adoring and grateful children, Michael (Radica) Dolsingh and Karen (Mozzam) Hosein and her grandchildren, Janelle and Karissa Hosein and Leandra and Matthew Dolsingh, all of Florida; her caring siblings, Merle (Clinton) Gajadhar, John A. Ali and Farida (Noble) Lalbiharie, all of Winnipeg, Gloria (Boris) Beharrysingh of Toronto, Joyce (Ed deceased) Mohamed of Sault Ste Marie, Bernadette Hash (George) Carroll of England and Maida Holder of Ottawa; and her brother-in-law Tom Revoy of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Vilma Ali of England. She was predeceased by her parents, Hamin and Edan Maria Ali; her brother Anthony Shiraz Ali and sister Melah Anne Revoy. She was a wonderful auntie, friend and cousin to many, including cousins Jean (John) Mackay and Joan (Ken) Charles of Trinidad, several others here in Winnipeg, in other parts of North America, in the U.K. and in the Caribbean. Monica was, for many years, a recognized educator of young children in Trinidad and Tobago, where she was born (the second of 10 children) on June 6, 1928 in St James, a throbbing, multicultural town, just west of Port of Spain. Throughout her life, she maintained a passion for both gardening and the Arts, which remained undiminished throughout her life, despite the early onset of Rheumathoid Arthritis, which consequently brought about unimaginable challenges. She developed a special affection for Manitoba beginning in the 1960s, where several of her siblings and her mother had earlier immigrated. Principally, though, she remained devoted to her ever-expanding family, and was evermore excited by news of their accomplishments in the arts, sciences and social services. Monica was exceptionally spiritual, and well ahead of her time in recognizing (and advancing) the socio-economic value of education for women and the role of women in the workplace. She ceaselessly encouraged her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and so many others to study hard - understanding, in the truest sense, that education affords all future generations limitless prospects and opportunities. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 18 at 10:30 a.m., in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd., with Rev. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert, presiding, and Rev. Msgr. Stan Jaworski, con-celebrant. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. A quiet reception is to be held thereafter. Her family would like to sincerely thank the dedicated staff of the Grace Hospital (over September 19-22), and of the Health Sciences Centre (September 22 - October 13) where she passed. Flowers and gifts are graciously declined. Friends and relatives may make a contribution in Monica's name to the Arthritis Society of Canada, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3R6. Monica's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
