NICK JANZEN October 16, 1925 October 14, 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father and Opa who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Nick is survived by his three devoted sons, Aaron (Jan), Lawrence (Melanie) of Winnipeg, and Paul (Joanne) of North Battleford, SK. Opa's pride and joy were his eight grand-children, Carlene, Michael, Cara-Lynn, Brent, Breanne, Lauren, Candace, and Tanner. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister as well as a large extended family. Nick was born in Georgetahl, Russia in 1925, one of ten children born to Abram and Margaretha Janzen. In 1926 at the age of nine months he immigrated to Canada with his family. The family farmed in Grunthal, MB and later moved to McCreary, MB where he met Mary. They were married in 1950 and moved to Winnipeg in 1955. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years in June 2002. Their marriage was a shining example of love and partnership for their children. Opa found joy in his family and his faith. He always had a cheery hello and his home was warm and inviting always open to anyone who stopped by. The cabin at Clear Lake and the yearly Janzen family reunion were special times each summer. The many hours spent in his workshop produced wooden toys, flowers, and bug houses that were enjoyed by his grandchildren and many friends. When you visited you never left without one of Nick's Nacs . Nick's funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Victory Baptist Church, 3428 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, followed by refreshments at the church. The family would like to thank the Grace Hospital Emergency and Intensive Care staff. Their care and compassion are greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick's memory to Winnipeg Mennonite Elementary School, 250 Bedson St., Winnipeg, MB, R3K 1R7. Nick's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
