Date of Passing: Oct 13, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMA FRANCES FALLS Peacefully, on October 13, 2006, Auntie Norma passed away, at age 70 years. Norma was born November 20, 1935 in Winnipeg, MB. She was raised in Elmwood, eventually moving to North Kildonan. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, active in the 1960s and 1970s. Norma worked at a variety of companies in her career, eventually ending up in the AR Department of Air Canada. She enjoyed traveling to many locations throughout her career, most notably going to Hawaii for one to two weeks annually for 20 years. After over 22 years of service, she retired in August 1993 to her cottage in Victoria Beach. She was an active volunteer in Victoria Beach community organizations and the Anglican Church after her retirement. It was Norma and her sister's great fortune that their grandparents purchased a cottage at Victoria Beach in 1937. Norma and Audrey spent all their summers at the family cottage on 7th Ave. In time, Norma purchased her own place and began turning it into her retirement home. She was happy at the Beach, commuting every weekend for years before finally moving out there in 1993. She stayed in her own home until one week before her death. Norma's pride and joy were her nephew Ken and niece Nadine. She doted on us, and spoiled us rotten with trips to the Shrine Circus, Ice Capades, the Air Canada Christmas party and the Red River Ex! The most extravagant and exotic gifts always came from Auntie Norma at birthdays, Christmas, and on her return from her travels. She was quick to introduce us to all her friends and included us in lots of good times' with them at the Beach. We thank her for her love and attention during her time in our lives. She will be missed and we're glad our own children got to meet their Great-Auntie Norma. Norma is predeceased by her father William and mother Florence. Left to mourn her loss is sister Audrey (Dick) of Winnipeg, nephew Ken (Maria) of Haileybury, ON, and niece Nadine (Don) of Ste Anne, MB, plus her great-nephews and great-nieces Kailyn (10), Hannah (6), Madelyn (3), Isaac (3), Julien (1) and stepgreat-nephew Justin (15). At Norma's request, there will be no service. A gathering of friends and family will take place at the Victoria Beach Sports Centre (Pine Road and Ash Street) in Victoria Beach, MB on Sunday, October 22, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's memory to the Alex Anderson Memorial Sports Centre, Box 150, Victoria Beach, MB R0E 2C0 or the Pine Falls Health Complex, Palliative Care, Box 2000, Pine Falls, MB R0E 1M0.
