GWEN MACTAVISH (nee Baker) January 11, 1918 - October 16, 2006 On Monday, October 16, 2006, after a brief battle with cancer, Gwen MacTavish died following a weekend spent with family at her side. She is survived by her sister Phyllis; brother Harold; her three children Keith, Heather and Ross; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Gwen is predeceased by her husband Don of 59 years; her infant son Neil and siblings Edith and Fred. Born in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan Gwen moved as a child with her family to Winnipeg in 1929 and lived on Lilac Ave above her father's bakery. While working for the Manitoba Government she met and married Don MacTavish on August 10, 1940. They raised their three children in St. Vital on Stranmillis Ave. After Don's death in 1999 Gwen moved to her beloved suite at 21 Clayton Drive where she spent many happy and active years with her lively group of friends. Gwen followed the stock market and was a wise investor. Always funny and outspoken, Gwen had an interesting life. At age 45 she returned to school and attended Glen Lawn Collegiate to complete grade 12 with youngest son Ross. For 10 years she taught Business Education in Arborg, MB commuting each Monday and Friday while boarding there during the week. Upon retirement Gwen and Don travelled the world. They went to England, Scotland, Wales, Mexico and three times to China. Her loves were many, her interests boundless, and her enthusiasm for life touched all she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A private family funeral service will be held in Wojcik's All Beliefs and Faiths Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gwen's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. We Love You Big Gams Gwen's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
