Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBENNIE PERCY MATTHEWS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father Bennie Percy Matthews on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Ben is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine; son Brad (Heather); daughter Deanna (Mark) Sitarz; sister Shirley Whalen. He was predeceased by his father Ernest; mother Kathleen; brothers Archie and James; sister-in-law Phyllis Matthews; brothers-in-law Bernie Whalen and James Hoy. Ben was born October 24, 1932 in Winnipeg. In his early years he was a member of the St. Andrews Sr. B Men's Basketball Association and the St. James Rams Football Club. Over the years he enjoyed numerous trips to Grand Forks and has gone to Grand Beach from the time he was a young man with his buddies up until the present time to the family cottage. Ben was a salesman all his life for numerous companies. In 1997, due to illness he retired from Letterall Signs. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Private committal will take place at a later date. Honourary pallbearers will be Ed Reiman, Ray Fidler, Jim Meade, Bill Smith, Jim McCheyne, Ken Dahl, Peter Kurushima and Charles Sitarz. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the First Responders from Station 21, the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Room staff and the staff of A7 West for making Dad's last hours comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ben's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. We love you Dad. We'll see you again.
