JEAN JOHNSON It's with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Jean Johnson at Grace General Hospital on Sunday, October 15, 2006. Jean was born in Winnipeg, June 19, 1919. She was predeceased by husband Frank in 1990; brothers, Bob and Jack Hampton and son-in-law Glen Sutherland. Jean leaves to mourn three daughters, Lynne Sutherland, Lesli Dorset (Bob Atamanchuk) and Kelly Jacques (André). Grandma leaves four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Ross and Kelley Sutherland (Madison and Logan), Scott Sutherland (Dylan), Kara and Christopher Slobodian and Allison Dorset. She also leaves two sisters, Betty McLean and Margaret Davidson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg. She met and married Frank on April 4, 1942. Mom worked many years in the finance industry, starting at Toronto General Trust, which became Canada Permanent Trust and finally The Permanent before retiring in 1983. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Europe, England and Scotland, as well as a motor trip across Eastern Canada and the U.S.A. She loved their cabin at Nutimik Lake where she and Dad spent many happy times with family and friends. Mom enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by family, reading, crossword puzzles and a good game of Bingo. A special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on 3 north at Grace General Hospital. A reception will be held on Monday, October 23 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Reception Centre, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of one's choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Family and friends. Sorry to read about Jean's passing. It was a pleasure working with Jean at Canada Permanent Trust years ago, and she was an extremely wonderful lady. She was always pleasant and friendly to everyone she met. To Jean's sister Betty, hello and my sympathy is with you today, as I use to bowl with Betty and her husband years ago, they were the ones who introduced me to Jean and I started to work with her. Thank you so much. With deepest sympathy, - Posted by: Christine (Davis) Moore (Co-Worker) on: Oct 20, 2006
