Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA ELIZA MARJORIE CASSILS It is with sadness that we announce the death of Eva Eliza Marjorie Cassils, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the age of 83 years. Eva, born in Dand, MB, June 24, 1923, was the first daughter of William and Mabel Godfrey. She grew up in the Dand community and attended Dand School until she completed Grade 11. In 1942, on permit, she taught at Stonehill School near Broomhill. The following year she completed her Grade 12 in Deloraine. In 1944, she attended Normal School in Winnipeg, and took a teaching position the next year in Regent, MB. By then, the Second World War had ended, and the love of her life, Norton Cassils had returned from service in the Royal Canadian Navy. They were married July 18, 1946, and settled down to farm life in the Dand community, where they were both involved in church and community activities. Eva devoted her heart and hands to helping create the farm site, which eventually became a most wonderful home for her family. She also loved being involved in music, gardening, and life in general, with her family. She also shared her talents in the church and community with quiet perseverance and determination. We honour her for her genuine compassion for others, for her gentleness, kindness, and love, all demonstrated through her life. Eva and Nort moved from the farm to Border Hills Apartment in Deloraine in 1988. Mom was currently a resident at Bren-Del-Win Lodge in Deloraine at the time of her passing. Eva is survived by her loving family - sister Jean Agnew and family; and brother Jack Godfrey and family; her seven children, Ron (Judy), Marj, Craig (Robin), Dan (Wanda), Judy Neudorf (Cliff), Helen Price (Gord), Perry (Brenda); her 13 grandchildren, Cindy Millar (Darcy), Jennifer Cassils, Tanya Purdie (Brent), Angie Weddell (John), Jill Giesbrecht (Chris), Michael Cassils, Jason Cassils (Kim), Monica Baldwin (Bryce), Michelle Riddell (Kasey), Erica Randall, Jeremy Randall, Sarah Price, Jonathon Cassils; her great-grandchildren, Nolan Millar, Emily, Jacob and Haley Purdie, Jordan and Megan Giesbrecht, Rianna Cassils. Eva was predeceased by her parents and husband Nort. The service of celebration for Eva's life was held in Deloraine United Church on October 17, with Rev. Mark Satterly officiating. Interment was in the Del-Win Cemetery. Smith Funeral Homes was in care of the arrangements. Donations may be made in memory of Eva to a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bren-Del-Win Lodge for their never ending care and compassion shown to our dear Mother. We are also grateful for the warmth and love given to Mom and our family through visits, cards, phone calls, food and flowers. It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around can warm up to its glowing. That's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced it. You spread His love to everyone, you want to pass it on.
