Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE R. LAURIE Peacefully on October 20, 2006 at Park Manor Personal Care Home. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion; his daughter Nancy (Kin); son Dave (Elaine); sisters Bernice and Joan (Jack); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Ronald and Francis. Lawrence was born on August 12, 1923 in Vivian, MB. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas in the Lake Superior Regiment. He was a member of the Transcona Legion Branch #7 for 46 years and was employed by the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission for 27 years. Recently, he received his 50 year Masonic jewel, having served as a Past-Master of the Morden Lodge and member of the Transcona Lodge. He was a member of the Transcona Seniors Golf Association and a life-time member of the Transcona Retired Seniors Organization. Music was always a large part of Lawrence's life. He loved to play his fiddle and harmonica while Marion accompanied him on the piano. He was an avid crokinole, horseshoe and card player. A memorial service will be held at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. West at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23 with Carol Fletcher officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date. Many thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at Park Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Manor and to the Transcona Memorial United Church. May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And the rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.
