Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD (DICK) DONALDSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dick Donaldson on October 20, 2006 at the age of 72, after a valiant battle with cancer. His memory will be cherished by Jean, his loving wife and best friend of 45 years, daughter Heather (Ian) Biddell, and son James (Sharon) Donaldson and their children Jordan, Emily and Justin. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Agnes Donaldson, and his brother, Robert Donaldson. Dick was born November 20, 1933 in Winnipeg, MB. He attended St. Paul's College and joined the Winnipeg Police Department in 1957. In 1991, after a long, rewarding career, Dick and Jean retired to Langley, BC to rejoin their children. Dick loved golf, playing many rounds with his friends at Poppy Estates, and his many adventures with Jean. Their travels included Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, England, Scotland, California, Florida and several cruises. Dick enjoyed planning their vacations almost as much as the journeys themselves. Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Dick made friends easily wherever he went and was grateful for the many good wishes he received during the past year and a half of his illness. We will all miss him. The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for him; the staff at the Fraser Valley Cancer Agency, the staff in Emergency and 2 South at Langley Hospital, and especially the wonderful staff at the Langley Hospice made his last few days so peaceful. Prayers and viewing were held on Monday, October 23 at 5:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church (20675 87th Ave., Langley, BC). Flowers are gratefully declined but if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, 601 W 10th St., Vancouver, BC, 604-877-6040 or to the Langley Hospice Society, 20088 40A Ave., Langley, BC, V3A 2Y6, 604-530-1115.
