Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRA MCNAUGHTAN March 1, 1916 - October 19, 2006 On Thursday a.m., at the age of 90, Ira slipped quietly, away from his gathered family to take up his new position as Entertainment Co-ordinator for loved ones who preceded him. Those include his parents, Ira and Villa McNaughtan, sister Dora, son Ira Jr. and grandson Ryan Ira Eckhard. Left behind to reflect on all he taught us, (how fast he could catch us when we were in trouble, but also how quick he was to offer help), are Jennie, his wife and helpmate of 68 years, son Bob (Ingrid), daughters, Lynne (Gordon), Jeffrey, Bonnie Eckhard, Villa (Dale) Fisher. Ira was GRANDPA to 13 grand kids, Daryl, Dana, Laury, Tanis, Ryan (deceased), Tina, Marianne, Kevin, Nealle, Jennifer, Ken, Brad, Shelley. He was Grandpa Great to 18, Samantha, Brandon, TJ, Justin, Kristina, Kaitlin, Kay-Lee, Kassidy, Chelsey, Ben, Tyler, John, Caroline, Mackenzie, Oscar, Freddie, Violet. Ira had a most interesting life. After the Second World War, where he was a navigator on Liberators, he was sent as an observer at the Nuremberg War Trials. After returning home his working years were devoted to Dench of Canada (Cranbrook, BC), Westeel (Winnipeg, Edmonton), Alberta Construction Labour Relations Board (Edmonton). During his lifetime, Ira taught us all to have an appreciation for life and the importance of making and maintaining good friendships. His organizational skills when it came to FUN things will be long remembered. We'll miss you Dad. At Ira's request there will be no funeral. Instead a reception will be held at a later date. Please send no flowers. The family would deeply appreciate donations to Capital Care Lynnwood, 2nd 3rd Floor, 8740-165 Street, Edmonton, AB T5R 2R8. For the past two years, the wonderful staff on the second and third were like an extended family to Dad. Our family will be eternally grateful to them all.
