GEORGE ERNEST BIRTWHISTLE George Ernest Birtwhistle passed away peacefully at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli on October 22, 2006 at the age of 91 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Irene in 1994 after 54 years of marriage. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons Gary (Helena) Denver, CO, Alan (Karen) Sandy Hook, MB; grandchildren, Tara, Winnipeg, Darin (Rose), Alameda, CA, Todd (Jo-Ann), Winnipeg, MB; Dale (Kelly) Teulon, MB, Kevin (Amanda), Winnipeg, MB; great-grandchildren, Kyle, James and Jake. Surviving George is his sister Joyce Hamilton, Moosejaw, SK, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. George was born and raised in Winnipeg. He enjoyed many successful years in sales with Dominion Motors, The Ford Motor Co. and Johns Manville. He was a member of the Khartum Shrine Temple Drum Bugle Corp., Millennium Lodge No. 182, and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was very proud and fond of all the many friends and associates he made over the years. He was an honest, dedicated, hard-working man with a gentle, generous, caring soul. His humour, good nature and fun stories will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and therefore loved him. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
