Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHAUN R.D. CHAPKO January 1, 1972 October 22, 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Shaun Chapko, at home on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the age of 34 years. Remaining to forever cherish Shaun's memory are his parents, Pat and Lenard; sister Sharlene (Cory) Will; brother Sheldon and Baba Vera Chapko; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Shaun will always be remembered for his thoughtful and caring ways. He had a heart of gold and was known as a people person. He was a devoted son and brother, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. After Shaun graduated from Transcona Collegiate Institute, he continued his University studies throughout the years in the areas of Political Science, Business and Human Resources. He earned various certificates and diplomas. As a teenager and young adult, Shaun was employed with the City of Winnipeg as a rink attendant and skating instructor as well as a baseball umpire. He went on to be employed with CN Rail. Due to an accident, he returned to the City of Winnipeg with the Corporate Services Department. His fellow co-workers were very supportive of Shaun in his daily living and in continuing with his education. Shaun was currently an active volunteer with the United Steel Workers Union and held the position of Vice President for the Press Association, District 3, LU 2004. Through out the different years, Shaun played hockey, baseball, golf, went to the gym, fishing, reading and enjoyed going out for lunch. Additionally he spent many hours on the computer keeping in contact with family, friends and union members and helping others with computer problems. Another past time was taking his four legged buddy Murphy for early morning walks. Shaun also loved being the big brother. Prayers will be sung on Thursday evening, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day Street, Winnipeg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday morning, October 27 at 10:00 a.m., also in the Church, with Rev. Fr. Michael Krochak and Rt. Rev. Mitrat Michael Buyachok, officiating. Interment will follow in the Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road. Flowers and gifts are graciously declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shaun's memory to the Manitoba Brain Injury Association, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5, or the St. Michael's Villa Fund, 114 Yale E., Winnipeg, MB R2C 5E7. Our prayers and condolences to the Chapco family. Shaun was a good friend to our son. Shaun was devoted to his family and was never shy about it. His mother was his world and he would talk about his parents with love. Shaun would often share his devotion of the Catholic church that his family taught him.
