Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOMENICA (DOLLY) KOLODIE August 31, 1914 - October 21, 2006 With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother on October 21 at the age of 92. Mom will be forever missed by her two daughters, Michelle and her husband Walter Schurko, and Anna-Marie and her husband Karl Auerbach (Kelowna, BC). Nana will be forever remembered by her six grandchildren, Dr. Shelley LaBerge and her husband Jim (Kelowna), Michael Auerbach (Castlegar, BC), Dr. Robert Schurko (Windsor, ON), Catherine Schinkel and her husband Jonathan, Dr. Andrew Schurko (Iowa City, IA), and Matthew Auerbach and his wife Shannon (Chilliwack, BC). She is also survived by her two cherished great-granddaughters, Carly and Alex LaBerge, her two sisters, Olga Melanchuk and Stella Ustiak, many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike Kolodie in 1973 and her sister, Minnie Schwartz in 1990. Dolly was born in Winnipeg on August 31, 1914, and grew up in her neighbourhood on Aberdeen Avenue, attending Lord Nelson and St. John's High School. At a very young age, she began her life-long career as a superb seamstress and tailor. She worked for many companies: United Garments, Bonwit Manufacturing, Manitoba Clothing, Roddy Uniforms to name a few and then retired from Panther Pants. She shared her talents with family and friends when she fashioned bridesmaids gowns, graduation dresses for her daughters, Ukrainian dancing costumes for a dance group, and little tailored vests and pants for her grandsons. She spent countless hours knitting outfits and blankets for her grandchildren and crocheting colourful afghans and beautiful lace tablecloths for everyone in her family. In her retirement years, Dolly resumed her interest in 5-pin bowling. For 25 years, she could be found Monday to Thursday, every morning at Mosienko's Bowling Lanes, enjoying her sport and the camaraderie of her fellow bowlers. She enjoyed travelling and visited many places from coast to coast in Canada and the United States and also ventured to Europe and the Orient. Her family would like to thank all the faithful Homecare workers, especially Lauren, who made it possible for Dolly to live in her own home until she was 91. A sincere thank you to the kind caregivers at Seven Oaks Hospital and The Sharon Home for seeing to all her needs during the past ten months. In keeping with Dolly's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 27 at Cropo Funeral Chapel with Father Isidore Dziadyk OSBM officiating. A private family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Dolly's name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G4. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
