Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEF OTTMAR KESTLER 1936 - 2006 It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Josef Kestler, at the age of 70, on October 23, 2006 at the Grace Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by Christa, his devoted wife of 45 years; sons Herbert (Barb) of Apple Valley, MN and Robert of Winnipeg, MB; daughter Sabine of Carman, MB (Gerry) and grandchildren, Allan, Casey, Katrina, Garth and Kali. Josef was born in Draisdorf, Germany on September 1, 1936 to Ambros and Theresia Kestler. He came to Canada in 1960 at the age of 24 and met Christa on the ship coming over. They fell in love and married that same year. Joe went to work for Monarch Industries in 1962 as a machinist until his much earned retirement in 2001. He is survived by brothers and sisters, Hans, Hanni, Alois, Maria and is predeceased by brothers Herbert and Erwin. Joe enjoyed camping, boating and travelling through the United States and in later years, fishing and watching his grandchildren grow and play in numerous sporting events. He had a passion for reading, a great interest in geography, history, politics, and always had an interesting story to share. We will forever remember his loyalty and generosity with family and friends and his laughter will remain filled in our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Way of Winnipeg, 3rd floor - 5 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2T4.
