JEAN LILLIAN (LIL) PARSONS 1919 - 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Lil Parsons at Portage General Hospital on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. She was predeceased by her first husband Victor Isfeld in 1945, her second husband Harvey Parsons in 1994 and her daughter Betty Anne in 1952. Mom was also predeceased by her parents Albert and Berith Schive, two brothers, Bill and Ted, and two sisters, Rose Armstrong and Esther Fister. Left to mourn and miss her terribly are her two sons Dennis (Elizabeth) Isfeld of Kamloops, BC, Harvey Parsons Jr. (Tookie) of Amaranth, MB; grandsons, Kevin, Jeff and Derek (Monique), and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitaia, all of Kamloops, BC; her last remaining sibling Hazel Kittner of Winnipeg, MB; sister-in-law Erna Schive of Kingsville, ON, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her four-legged companions, Buster and Scruffy. Mom was born on April 18, 1919 at Buffalo Gap, SK, the youngest of six children. In 1932 her family, along with another family, moved to Manitoba. They journeyed the long trip of 480 miles by wagon train and it took them 19 days to reach Amaranth, MB. Mom had many happy memories of this trip and we all enjoyed the stories told when the Schive sisters got together. Mom married Victor Isfeld in 1942. Dennis was born from this union. Victor paid the supreme sacrifice on April 6, 1945 at the close of the Second World War. Mom remarried Harvey Parsons in 1947. Betty Anne and Harvey Jr. (Tookie) were born from this union. Betty Anne died suddenly in Mom's arms, just a little girl of five years old. Mom was a busy lady all her life. In the early years of her married life with Harvey, she managed a café, confectionary and a garage. Harvey owned Parsons Transfer, he was an agent for Imperial Oil and Massey Ferguson Equipment. There were always lots of hired help to feed, Mom did it all. She became Amaranth Postmistress in 1951, retiring in 1984. Mom was well known and well liked by everyone in the area. She had a heart of gold. Anyone who came to her home was offered a cup of tea and some lunch, or asked to sit down to a game of cards. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the Amaranth Memorial Hall, Amaranth, MB with Rev. Phyllis Thordarson officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven Of Rest Cemetery, Amaranth. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to The Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Manitoba Lung Association. Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
