WALTER SULYMA October 17, 1923 - October 26, 2006 Peacefully, on Thursday, October 26, 2006, surrounded by his loving family, our beloved husband, father and papa, Walter Sulyma passed away at the age of 83 years. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife Kay, his son Cliff, daughter Sandra Blais (Ray), granddaughter Kathryn (Jeff) and grandson Derek (Kendra). Walter will also be missed by his sister Olga (Thunder Bay), sisters-in-law, Stella Johnson, Janet Normand and his many nephews and nieces. Walter was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary, brother John, sister Helen and infant brother, Paul. Walter was born in Cook's Creek, MB on October 17, 1923. At the age of 18, he left the family farm and moved to Winnipeg. The true joys of his life was his marriage of 58 years to Kay Winiarz, the birth of his son, daughter, grandchildren and his closeness with his son-in-law, Ray. Walter was a dedicated and tireless employee of Versatile Manufacturing, receiving recognition for 17 years of continuous attendance without ever taking a sick day. He retired in 1982 and was able to enjoy an amazing 24 years of retirement doing exactly what he wanted to do which was spending time with his wife and family, cooking the most delicious meals and baking fantastic pies. He was often seen riding his bike carrying 20 pounds of potatoes home to make perogies with Kay. He loved running everyone's errands, especially to Eaton's, spending many happy hours on his backyard swing, chit-chatting with his wife, family and friends. Many of Wally's pleasures were doing yard work, travelling many times to Hawaii; playing cards with John and Venice, babysitting and watching his grandchildren grow up. He took great delight in making other people's days a little bit brighter. We feel truly blessed to have been a part of this gentle man's life. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of the emergency department of Concordia Hospital for the excellent care given to Walter during his last hours. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., with viewing prior. Rev. Gerry Ward presiding. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
