Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL ZIOMBRA It is with sadness that we share with family, friends and the Ukrainian community the passing of Michajlo (Michael) Ziombra, on Sunday, October 22, 2006. Michael was born March 6, 1925 in Szyszkowa, Brode Ukraine. Being fluent in Ukrainian, Polish and German helped him survive the Russian and German occupation. After the war he immigrated to Canada living in Ontario and Manitoba. In Ontario he worked at the Marathon Paper Mill. He also was a miner in Sudbury and a mink rancher in northern, Manitoba. After coming to Winnipeg he opened Depot Cafè and founded Helen's Food Products, developing a technique in freezing perogies and cabbage rolls. He also ran a successful catering business. In his spare time he completed his accountancy course with honors. Treasuring nature, Michael bought a farm and took great pride in his home and garden, sharing his vegetables and flowers with his friends in the church and community. He was a very spiritual and devoted man and enjoyed studying the Bible verse by verse in his senior years. His faith sustained him through many situations and challenges. Visiting and spending time with family and friends brought him great joy. Michael is survived by his two children Roman George Ziombra (and Cristy Trembly) and Irene Katherine Driscoll (and Ken Driscoll). Funeral service was held on Thursday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home.
