Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH SIKOMAS Peacefully on October 22, 2006, Joseph Sikomas at the age of 84 passed away at the Vista Park Lodge. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years Vera and daughter Jo-Anne (J.J.). Joseph will be deeply missed by his sisters Rose Popowich, Phyllis Ermet and brother-in-law Ted Ermet, sister-in-law Sonja Sikomas along with cousins, nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his sister Kae Sikomas and brother Walter Sikomas. Joseph was born in Winnipeg on April 21, 1922. He married Vera Pachol in 1943. He was a man of courage and spent 16 months in Belgium, Holland, France and Germany with the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Upon his return after the war, he took up residence in St. Vital and built his family home where they lived for 50 years. He returned to work for the CP Railway until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, he excelled at carpentry and he spent many hours producing video movies on various events he attended. He loved to dance and play cards. His greatest passion was his cottage at Falcon Lake where he enjoyed spending his summers with his wife, family and friends. Joseph travelled throughout Canada and the United States as well as cruises to far away places. Joseph was always ready to help out in any situation. His quick wit and sense of humour entertained us all. He will be missed by those who had the privilege to know and spend time with him. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their outstanding care and compassion for Joseph. Many thanks to all the doctors and staff at Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and care. In accordance with Joseph's wishes, cremation has been taken place and a private family interment was held on October 26, 2006 at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are graciously declined. Donations in Joseph's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 or to a charity of your choice.
