HILDA MAY HORNE Peacefully and surrounded by family, Hilda May Horne passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at the Grace Hospital Hilda is survived by her husband Bill; daughters Dianne Sallans and Corrine(Jack) Sorenson and son Jamie (Sharon). She thoroughly loved and enjoyed her eight grandchildren, Cindy and Shauna (Doug) Sallans, Jason, Todd (Peggy), Ian and Ryan Sorenson and Riley and Taylor Horne; one great-grandchild Danielle, all of whom will miss their Nana. Also surviving is sister-in-law Betty, niece Carolynne (Ken) and cousin Kenneth (Thelma). Born May 22, 1919 in Winnipeg to William and Beatrice Freeman, she attended Lord Roberts School, Kelvin High and Success Business School. Hilda married Bill Horne on October 20, 1941 (65 years). She was active in Riverview United Church, Riverview CC, Tuesday afternoon bowling at The Park Alley, Girls Club and square dancing. Hilda enjoyed many happy summers at Victoria Beach with her family and many friends. After retirement, she took up golfing with Bill and hit a hole-in-one in her eightieth year. Hilda and Bill spent many happy winter months in Hawaii, returning time and again to their friends at the Ilima Hotel. A private family service will be held at Victoria Beach Cemetery at a later date. Friends of the family are invited to a reception at Corinne and Jack's home at 3 Colebrook Drive on Sunday, October 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to share memories and celebrate Hilda's life. The family would like to thank the staff on 3 West at Extendicare / Oakview Place where Hilda and Bill have resided the past three years; Dr. MacKenzie and the nursing staff in the Emergency Department and the nursing staff on 2 North and 5 North at the Grace Hospital who cared for Mom and the family. A special thanks goes to Dr. George Borrett. Donations in Hilda's memory may be sent to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to a charity of your choice.
