CHRISTOPHER SCOTT BOYD 1972 - 2006 It is with the most profound sadness we say goodbye to our son, father, brother, uncle and friend who passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 12:03 p.m. Chris was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2004. In 2005 after rounds of chemotherapy he went in to a short remission only to find out soon thereafter the cancer had spread. He continued with radiation treatments to no avail and on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 he was informed his cancer was terminal and nothing more could be done. Chris entered Palliative Care at the St. Boniface Hospital on July 16, 2006 and remained there until his passing. Chris remained the ultimate optimist and never gave up. He held fast to his faith and prayer even in the most trying of times. Chris was immensely brave while enduring much pain and suffering. Chris always concerned himself more about the morale and well being of those around him then his all consuming illness. He was a man with a generous heart that never judged anyone but accepted all unconditionally and opened both the doors of his heart and his home. Chris will be forever cherished and missed by his most loving parents Sandra and Ken, his only son Michael Christopher and his extraordinary sister Robyn and partner Alexander Flett and their son Logan. Robyn and his devoted mother Sandra have committed to care and raise Michael into the man his father would be proud of. Much love and devotion to Chris's grandmothers, Edna Baldwin and Yvonne Boyd. His grandmother Edna Baldwin and his Aunt Ethyl Armstrong were his rock and beside him daily, Great-Aunt Phyllis Baldwin, the Flett and Queskekapow family, mother-in-law Nancy Weibelskircher and all his cousins. Chris was predeceased by his Aunt Heather Hope in 1999, his beloved niece baby Layla Jayde Rose Flett in 2005 and grandfathers, Jack Baldwin in 1980 and Arthur Boyd in 1989. An extremely heartfelt Thank You to all of his friends for their company and to his special friends and companions Ward Middlestead, Dave Coleman, Doug Humphreys, Paul Fontaine, Phil Berard, Shawn Funk and James Dunthorne. Our most sincere appreciation for your support, dedication and all the time spent with Chris. To Clare and Edith, his Palliative nurses who became his angels and to all the staff on the Palliative care unit at St. Boniface Hospital we thank you so much. To Dr. L. Smith, Dr. T. St. Goddard, Dr. G. Crawford and Dr. M. Garcia for your vital family support and care of our loved one. You made his and our road easier. Pastor Dan Krebs and his wife Lenise Krebs, Visitation Pastor Peter Letkeman, wife Doreen for your support, compassion and especially for your uplifting prayers that strengthened Chris's conviction and faith. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at a later date. A celebration of Chris's life will take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Evangel Chapel on 1073 St. Mary's Road, Pastor Dan Krebs officiating. A gathering will follow in the lower level of the Chapel. A trust fund has been set up for his son Michael Christopher Boyd at the Assiniboine Credit Union at 1033 St. Mary's Road Winnipeg, Manitoba R2M 3S8, telephone 958-8588. In lieu of flowers donations to Michael's trust fund would be greatly appreciated. Any and all donations can be made at any Assiniboine Credit Union branch near you for your convenience.
