Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTELLE CHRISTEANSON (nee DAVIDSON) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our treasured mother, grandmother, Nana and friend Estelle Christeanson, as dawn was breaking on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital. Estelle was predeceased by her husband Bernhart in 1970 and beloved son David in 1979. Shortly after her marriage to Bernhart in 1947 they took up residence in Wildwood Park where they raised their two children. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Marilyn (Terry) Fyke, granddaughters Jennifer and Carley, former daughter-in-law and special friend, Nancy (Mike) Finlayson and adopted grandchildren Anne, Emily and Kathleen. Estelle is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will also miss her greatly. Estelle was born in Swan River, Manitoba on April 10, 1919 and grew up on the family farm near Lidstone. She moved to Winnipeg as a young woman to train as a registered nurse at the Misericordia General Hospital and spent the majority of her nursing career there as head nurse in the nursery. Following retirement in 1982 Mom became very involved with the alumni and remained active until quite recently. Vibrant as always, she also took up golf, began to curl and learned how to swim, in addition to her passion for playing bridge. Estelle also began to travel quite a bit and most enjoyed her trip to New Zealand. Right up until the past few months Mom lived an extremely full, active and healthy life. Despite the tremendous sorrow of losing her husband and son she was always able to live with hope and optimism; her life was a wonderful example of one characterized by a tremendous love of people. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road at Lyon, with (the Rev.) Nancy Finlayson officiating. A reception to be followed by a private interment. Viewing will be on Monday, October 30 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the ALS Society c/o Deer Lodge Hospital, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 0L3. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Poseidon Care Centre and the Victoria Hospital. Mom, the great gift of love you gave to us will live on through all our years and we will remember you always with thanksgiving.
