ROBERT CARLSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Carlson, beloved husband, Dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He died suddenly but peacefully at home on October 27, 2006 at 82 years of age. Born in Port Arthur, Thunder Bay District, Ontario on October 31, 1923, he was raised in Ware Township where he enjoyed the outdoors and the logging industry. Married in 1956 to Eva, they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. He moved between Thunder Bay and Gimli since his retirement in 1985 from CPR in Winnipeg. He was a very spiritual and devoted man with the hope of a resurrection who enjoyed studying the Bible over the years; his faith sustained him through many situations and challenges. He much enjoyed visiting and spending time with family and friends. He was a sweet, kind, gentle man with a joyful spirit and a smile for everyone. Dad was well known for his sense of humour, his ability for story telling, and for his pancakes. He will be deeply missed. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Werner and Lily; brothers, Charles, Stanley and James; sisters, Verna and Irene. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Eva; children, Esther (Brian), Richard (Anne), Lilli (Jason); grandchildren, Andrea, Adrienne, Ryan, Justin, Lacey, Robert and Jacob; great-grandchildren, R.J., Christopher and Jarod; brother Peter, along with numerous other family members. In keeping with Robert's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Winnipeg Beach. A private family interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Thunder Bay at a later date. In expression of sympathy, if friends so wish, family is requesting donations be sent to the Winnipeg Beach Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in lieu of flowers. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
