ELIZABETH (BETTY) JOSEPHINE MCNUTT (nee HECTOR) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Betty McNutt on October 28, 2006. After a lengthy illness, she died peacefully at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg surrounded by her family. She is lovingly remembered by daughters: Jean (Jim) Robson, Maureen (Dan) Barchyn, Pat (Borys) German; as well as six grandchildren Alison (Ali), Marley, David, Danielle, Shannon and Kimberly. Betty is also survived by sisters Mary Dunsmore, Margaret Millar, brother Glen (Lois) Hector, sisters-in-law Bea and Trudy Hector, brother-in-law Robert Fergusson and many other relatives in Canada and Scotland. She was predeceased by husband Jim McNutt, brothers Alexander and Robert Hector, brothers-in-law Alexander Millar, Clair Dunsmore, Herbert Treller and sisters-in-law Iris Treller, Eileen Fergusson. Betty was born on July 22, 1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her parents, Jean and James Hector immigrated to Winnipeg from Lanark, Scotland in 1918. Betty was raised in a home on Polson Avenue with 5 brothers and sisters and was known as Lizzie by her family and Scottie by her school pals. She married James Charles McNutt in 1948 and together they had 3 daughters. In the early years of their marriage they resided in Ontario and British Columbia before returning to Winnipeg in 1964. Betty always loved music, social gatherings, church events and family time. She was an expert craftswoman and supplied the mittens, sweaters and afghans for the whole family. Betty was a long time member of Kirkfield Park United Church and participated in the choir and UCW. She was an active community volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Museum of Man and Nature, Heritage Choir, Singsationals and The Stroke Association. Over the years, the family always got together for special events such as birthdays, Christmas and summer barbeques. Grandma always arrived with a basket laden with wonderful baking - more than enough for the dinner and a supply for school lunches and snacks for days to come! Special thanks to Betty's grandchildren, Lois and Glen Hector, Brenda Hodgson and the staff of the Convalescent Home for their caring support over the last 3 years. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Betty's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Just a prayer from us who love you A precious memory, fond and true; In our hearts you'll live forever Because we thought the world of you. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
