DOROTHY MATTHEWSON (MAY) On Friday, October 27, 2006, Dorothy Matthewson, aged 94 years, passed away at Golden Links Lodge with her family at her side. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Phil; brothers, George and Bill; sister Eleanor. She will be remembered by her daughter Joan (Bob) Bjornsson; her beloved grandchildren, Reid (Charlene) and Heather (Robert Preisentanz). She loved and enjoyed her five great-grandchildren. Dorothy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends and other relatives. Dorothy was born in Stonewall, Manitoba on February 13, 1912. She worked for the T. Eaton Company until her marriage to Phil in 1943. She resided in Stonewall until 2004. Dorothy loved music. She taught both piano and singing. She was very active in the local music festival each year. In 1967, Dorothy was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal for her contributions to music. Both Dorothy and her husband Phil were very active in the Stonewall United Church where Dorothy was organist and choir director for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their wonderful care and compassion. Friends may call to pay their respects on Wednesday evening, November 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stonewall United Church. The service will conclude at the church. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Stonewall United Church. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
