Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN DESJARLAIS (nee CHOKEN) September 10, 1952 October 27, 2006 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our Mother, Sister, Aunt, Niece and Friend, Doreen. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Andrew Desjarlais, parents, Gus Choken and Harriet Beauchamp, brother Alvin Choken, uncles Einar, Steve and Alfred Choken, aunt Emily Beauchamp, grandparents, Janet and John Paul. She is survived by step-parents Adolph and Isabel Swan, sons Clifford Swan Jr. (Rachel), Clayton Swan (Jackie), Trent Shannon (Dao), sister Alma Smith (Freddie), brothers Francis Basil Choken (Margaret), Brian Swan (Cindy), Marvin and Selma Swan, uncles Victor Choken (Delia), Roy Choken (Lydia), Willie Choken and aunt Dorothy Baptiste (Arnold); her only three grandchildren, Little' Doreen, Ricky and Kevin along with nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name. Born on the Lake Manitoba First Nation on September 10, 1952, Doreen was a very active and outgoing person who loved attending weddings and social functions. She loved dancing and even sang on occasion. She also loved spending her leisure time decorating and re-decorating her home. She had planted several trees surrounding her home last year, naming each tree for every special person in her life, and took great pride in taking care of them. Being a busy body one could always find her outside doing yard work or watering her trees. Doreen also enjoyed to travel, never leaving her two grandchildren behind little Doreen and Ricky. They gave her such happiness and joy. Her love for them was immense. She also loved helping anyone out in need. No task or distance was too great or small, near or far - and always with a smile. She also loved visiting her brother Marvin on a daily basis. That became a habit she so enjoyed. A Good Habit she always said. Doreen will be greatly and sadly missed by all who knew her. Wake services will be held at her residence on the Lake Manitoba First Nation, on October 31, and November 1, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church. Service will terminate at the church. Cremation to follow. Pallbearers will be Kelly Maytwayashing, Larry Swan, Barry Swan, Donnie Swan, Ivan Maytwayashing, and Tracy Spence. All in attendance can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. (No flowers please). Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072
