LEON JOSEPH VEROT Suddenly but peacefully, on October 30, 2006, Leon Joseph Verot, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital with his family by his side. Leon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Bernadette (Bernie); his three sons, Blane (Deborah), Bryan (Shelly) and Perry (Kelly); grandchildren, BJ, Kyle, Ryan, Kayla, Elizabeth and Ashley. Leon is also survived by his brothers, Peter (Alexina), Paul, Alphonse and his sister Aimee Stensrud. Leon was predeceased by his father Louis in 1962 and his mother Sophie in 1977. Leon was born in Radville, SK on February 6, 1940 and was raised on the family farm. His first job was at the Co-Op Store in Radville where he met the love of his life, Bernadette. They were married in 1961. He left the Co-Op and went to Dominion Stores in Regina and worked there from 1960 to 1968 working his way up to the position of Store Manager. He left Dominion Stores in 1968 to work for Hostess Foods Ltd. in Regina as a sales representative. In 1975 Leon and his family moved to Winnipeg where he was promoted to the position of Sales Manager for Manitoba and the Lakehead Region for Hostess Foods Ltd. In 1980 Leon left Hostess Foods to work for Domtar Chemicals (Sifto Salt) as sales representative for Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. He worked there until his retirement in 2001. Leon was a very charismatic person who had wonderful people skills . He was well liked in his field and made many friends. In Leon's spare time he loved to work on cars and restore them in his garage. Prayers will be said on Thursday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 341 Munroe Ave. with Charlotte Novak officiating. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to prayers. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Alphonsus Church with Pastor Jorge Villegas, OFM Cap officiating. Lunch will follow in the church hall followed by interment in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be his sons, Blane, Bryan and Perry and his grandsons, BJ, Kyle and Ryan. The family wish to thank Dr. Tunjy Fatoye, Dr. Magdy Zaki and the nursing staff of the 5th Floor, especially Teresa and Mona, at Seven Oaks Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in Leon's memory, to the Canadian Cancer Society.
