MARGARETE (GRETA) ELISABET HAMMER (SCHNERCH) (nee BERG) 1926 - 2006 With much sorrow and sadness Margarete Elisabet Hammer peacefully passed away on October 25, 2006. Born February 24 in Klonau, Germany, Margarete was the eldest of four children. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Egon. They would have been married 30 years on October 30; daughter Linda Schnerch (my Linda, my Linda), adopted daughter Paulette Desaulniers, son Helmut Hammer (Linda), son Werner Hammer from BC; grandchildren Diane (Mark), David (Laura), Douglas (Christie), Jessica, Corey and Nichole and great grandchildren; brother Heinz Berg (Lissi), nephews Michael and Ralf; cousins Hannalore and Ole Winkel, Christel and Frederick Huneke (Germany), special nephew Nelson Capuska (Maureen) and Sandra; many nieces and nephews; special friends - Rose Rostek, Don the butler (Ji-Ann)Desaulniers, Terry (Dawn), Danielle, Mikayla, Allan (Susie), Pat Litke, Jaci McKenzie, Fred Offenloch (Margot) and many more special family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Max and Emma Berg, brother Kurt, sister Elli Ficker (Adolf). Margarete had many talents and hobbies, cooking, gardening (especially those tomatoes), paper tole, eggery, crocheting and she loved to talk on the telephone. She also enjoyed weekends with Egon at the cottage in Beaconia. The family wishes to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care Home, Wing 2 East, Seven Oaks ER, Dr. Fayote, Seven Oaks Unit 5 -3rd floor and many others for the care and kindness given to Margarete. A memorial service will be held on November 4, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Pastor Frank Bahr officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Margarete's memory. You will be a shining star in the skies up above and in my heart forever.
