Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN LAMBERT HARLAND April 21, 1909 October 29, 2006 Peacefully on Sunday October 29, 2006 at the age of 97, J. Lambert Harland passed away with his family at his side. Predeceased by wife Jean; mother and father Ethel and Abraham Harland; brothers Melvin, Hartley, Wesley, Garnet, Gordon; sisters Rita Barlow and Anne Darling. He is survived by daughters Bernice (Marcel) Lanouette and Mabel (George) Pratt and son Stan (Liz); grandchildren Tim (Tammy), Greg (Tina), Dain (Lori), Richard (Linda), Trudy (Marc), Tara, Rhonda, Crystal, Christopher and Jason; 17 Great-Grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister Evelyn (Bruce) McLeod and brother Earle (Florence) Harland and numerous nieces and nephews. Lambert was born in Treherne on the family farm. He attended school at Arbroath S.D. and attended Brandon College where he learnt welding. He was employed by Manitoba Hydro for some years as well as farming. He married Jean Mitchell on January 9, 1935. They farmed in the Arbroath district until 1941 at which time they moved to Hamilton, ON where he worked for Canadian Westinghouse during the war; he was also in the Reserve Army during this time. In 1946 they moved back to the farm in Treherne for two years at which time he became an electrician working for Harry Pollon and later forming his own company in Treherne. In 1963 they moved to Camp Morton where they operated a general store for five years, at that time he was also employed at CFB Gimli as an electrician. Later they moved to Gimli where he worked as a stationary engineer for the Johnson General Hospital Gimli until he retired. He was a member of Odd Fellows and Dave Rebekah Lodge #62 in Treherne. He was a member of the Gimli New Horizon Club where he enjoyed square dancing, carpet bowling and many enjoyable hours at cards. Following cremation a memorial service will be held at the Treherne United Church on Thursday November 2, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
