ANN WOOD (nee SALYN) December 10, 1916 - October 30, 2006 It is with deep sadness that the family of Ann Wood announce her sudden passing on Monday, October 30, 2006 at the age of 89 years. Left to cherish her memory are her dear children Sheila (Norma), Patricia (Keith), and John; her stepson Ray (Doreen); her beloved grandchildren Christine, Alison, Adam, and Emma. She will also be remembered by her sister Mary; brother Matt as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1958, her parents John and Mary, her brothers Joe, Jim, Pete, Steve, Henry and Paul and her sisters Irene, Doris and Vye. Ann was the matriarch of our family and we were honoured to have her in our lives. She was an inspiration to us and asked for no reward beyond the smiles on our faces. She was proud of her family and our milestones. We in turn honored her and were proud of her abilities and accomplishments. Ann was committed to being involved in her church and community. She was the past recording secretary and president of both the United Church Women and Rebekkah Lodge. She was employed for several years at the Kamsack and District Nursing Home and was proud to be an active union member serving in different officer positions within her local, including local president. Her home was the central gathering place for our extended family and we have many wonderful memories of those times. Ann was an excellent cook and always looked forward to planting her garden in the spring. Her larder overflowed as a result of her enthusiasm. Her grandchildren adored their Nana/ Grandma' and the feeling was mutual. They all enjoyed her visits, phone calls, advice (whether or not asked for), and her sense of humour. It was fun watching her shock them at times. Her dry sense of humour could leave us all in stitches when we least expected it. The values and lessons she taught us will last through the generations and we will honour her memory. Ann's funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (Corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. Ann's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
