DONALD ARTHUR FISHER January 12, 1922-November 1, 2006 On Wednesday, November 1, 2006, Donald died peacefully after three weeks of wonderful care at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 84 years. Don was the much loved husband of 48 years of marriage to Barbara (Dennis) as well as a loving father to his daughters, Mary Smith (Ottawa) and Martha (Don) McIntosh and grandchildren Jenny, Danny, Tricia, Carmen and Donovan. He is also survived by siblings Terrence of Thunder Bay, Charles, Eldred Rody of Grandview and Shirley Riley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren across western Canada. Don was predeceased by siblings Maurice, Jack, Alice and Margaret. Born in Roblin, MB to Andrew Earl Fisher and Mary Elizabeth Holt of Shortdale, MB. Don was raised and educated in the Gilbert School District. He left home at an early age to farm with his grandfather, George Holt. Donald served in the army (8th Anti-Aircraft Div.) from 1940-46 then began a long career in heavy construction throughout Ontario, Quebec, Labrador, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Artic. The highlight of this was three years in Malawi, Central Africa on a CIDA railway project. After retirement, Don enjoyed growing vegetables on his rural property in St. Norbert, traveling with Barb and helping her in her business, St. James Rubber Stamp. He was a long time member of St. Luke's Anglican Church, 130 Nassau N., where Don's memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 3:00 p.m. Don was loved and will be missed by many. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations in Don's memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB., R3E 0V9.
