CAMERON A. (CAM) FYKE With breaking hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Cameron Fyke at St. Boniface Hospital in the early hours of Monday October 30, 2006. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, by his two daughters whom he adored, Ashton (13), Laine (10), very special friend Debbie Hanton and children Allyse and Reece. Left to mourn is his brother Terry, sister-in-law Marilyn, nieces Jennifer and Carley, parents Joyce and Leverne, aunts and uncles Jack and Helen Lipsey, Jean Fisk, Rochester, NY, Harvey and Peggy Fyke, Ken and Dawn Fyke, Victoria, BC, along with numerous cousins and their families. Cameron (Cam) as he was known to most, was born in Winnipeg August 13, 1960 and grew up in Fort Garry. He attended Ralph Maybank School and graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate. Following graduation and further education at Red River College he turned to flying as a possible career. Cam gained his private pilot's licence and floatplane endorsement, taking part of his training while working for Nelsons Leisureland in Kenora, ON. He then changed career paths to follow in the footsteps of his brother and father into the insurance industry and on January 1, 1982 started with Monarch Life. In 1994 he helped form, together with his brother and father, the family firm of L.H Fyke Associates, later to become Prairie Shield Consultants where he was a partner at the time of his death. Cam was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and his honest and sincere council to his many clients will be missed. Cam enjoyed all sports especially hockey and football. He especially enjoyed his time at the family cottage at Lake of the Woods with his daughters, parents, brother, sister-in-law and his two nieces. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road at Lyon Street, Winnipeg, followed by a reception and a private family interment. Viewing will be on Monday, November 6 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A special thanks to the staff and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful attention to Cameron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Garry United Church, or to a charity of your choice. Rest in Peace Our Son, we will see you on the dock. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Very sorry to discover that Cam has passed. Our family and the Fykes were good family friends in the 1960s until 1971 when we moved to Victoria BC. I remember the Fyke family cottage at the Lake of the Woods... many fond memories. My younger brother Scott played on the Westridge Nationals hockey team with Cam when they were young fellows. RIP old friend. - Posted by: Dave Williams Jr. (friend) on: Jan 27, 2016
