ANITA MARIE HASSIN (nee COCHRANE) Peacefully on November 1, 2006, Anita passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 65. She will be remembered by her two daughters, Holly (Bob) and Lani (Ivan) and her son Allie (Shannon). Grandma will also be missed by her two grandchildren, Jeremy and Spencer. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jacqueline DeCoste (Pat), Denis Cochrane (Diane), Linda Glenn (Lloyd), Robert Cochrane (Maureen), and Celeste MacQuarrie (Wayne). She was predeceased by her father and mother and her sister Camilla. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Anita came to Winnipeg in 1979 where she lived and worked for the last 27 years. For the final years of her career, she was employed as a manager of a Vita Health health food store in City Place. It was in this position that she enjoyed a great deal of satisfaction and accomplishment as she felt that her work truly benefited her customers. Despite a four-year battle with cancer, she was able to find time to give back to those in need by volunteering at the St. Boniface Hospital. Her compassion, gentle nature, and own experiences with cancer enabled her to be a euphemistic volunteer; a position of which she was very proud. Anita never held back a laugh and her warm, encompassing manner made all feel at ease. She livened any gathering, whether it be a family dinner or a line of people waiting for a bus. She enriched the lives of all she met and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 1531 Pembina Hwy. A private interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or online at http://www.cancercare.mb.ca/ Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM FAMILY OWNED OPERATED 1531 Pembina Hwy 284-7500

It's been almost 16 years and I finally found your obit. When I received a call letting me know you had passed, I wish the caller had left a phone number so I could inquire about the memorial service. I met Anita when she worked at Vita Health, I worked in the same building and often popped in to buy something. We became fast friends and even ended up as neighbors in the same block. We enjoyed funny stories, laughing and dancing. We would often go out with a group of 5 to various ballrooms dances twice a week, throughout the city. We always had a great time, laughed so much and enjoyed our friends. I've missed Anita so much, our giggles, long talks about life, men, kids, aspirations....She was a kind, generous soul and was always there if you needed her. I've never met another friend quite like Anita, she definitely lives in my heart and mind and I still miss her. Thank you for understanding me, having patience, kindness and time. xoxo Linda Broesky - Posted by: Linda Broesky (Friend and giggle partner.) on: Oct 23, 2022
