ARNOLD FRANCIS HIRST June 12, 1939 - October 23, 2006 A heart of gold stopped beating! With much sadness we announce the passing of our precious husband, father, Afi, brother and friend on October 23, 2006. Cherishing fond memories are his loving wife Joan, daughter Debbie, son-in-law Rick and grandchildren Steven and Lindsey; siblings, Myrtle (Victor) Helgason, Rosalie (Stan) Szmerski, Glen (Blythe) Hirst, Hazel (Bob) Pohl, Beatrice (Allan) Holm, Marlene Rollins, Laurel Torgerson; sisters-in-law Mayme Hirst, JoAnne Hirst and Etta. Arnold was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Loreley, his step-father Ralph Bogle, brother Allan, twin brother Ronald, brothers-in-law Tom Quirt, Durwood Rollins and Jerry Torgerson, parents-in-law Bill and Lee Quirt and Uncle Mike, his dear friend. At a very young age Arnold left home to enter the work force where he began his 37½ year career with Ontario Hydro. In 1993 he retired in Oshawa, ON. He took great delight in hearing of the activities and accomplishments of each family member, right down to his grand nieces and nephews. Arnold had the ability to make each one feel as though they were the best . His deep love of music and his vibrant gift of hospitality were an integral part of his family heritage. Praise God for such a treasured family! Arnold truly was our sweetheart!
