Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATTHEW MACLEOD CARTWRIGHT November 23, 1921- November 1, 2006 Suddenly on November 1, 2006 Matthew passed away in his home at the age of 84 years. Matthew was born in Crandall, Manitoba and attended Crandall District School. He moved into Winnipeg as a young man, worked at various jobs before joining the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in 1941. Later, Matthew worked for the Canadian National Railway at Transcona Shops for 40 years, taking early retirement in 1982. His occupation at that time was a painter. Matthew was predeceased by his mother Mary; father Charles; brother Donald; and sister, Marjorie Rowe. He is survived by his cousin Katherine Macleod in Winnipeg, niece, Rusty Feuer (Ron) in Los Angeles, and nephew, Wayne Rowe (Mary) in Las Vegas, as well as cousins in Scotland, England and Canada. Matthew was a cheerful, patient man who was always ready and willing to help. His practical skills were largely self-taught although he learned a lot from his father who was a master carpenter. Matthew was a keen observer of local and world affairs and enjoyed lively discussions with friends on a variety of topics. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster. Interment will take place at a later date in Crandall, MB.
