JOSEPH S. ALBI It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Joe passed away peacefully on November 3, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital. Born in Grimaldi, Italy, on March 2, 1932. Joe came to Canada in 1948 with his father to face the many challenges of a new and adopted country. Dad held many jobs before finding his chosen career as Service Manager for Black and Decker Power Tools. His loyalty to his company was demonstrated by his commitment of forty years service to Black and Decker before his retirement. Joe's greatest pride was his family life, and his commitment to his wife Teresa (Terri) for 52 years, and his two children, John and Joanne. He was a devoted Christian at Mary Mother of the Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and helped in the Food Bank at his parish. Dad loved gardening and took great pride in his flower and vegetable garden. Dad enjoyed golfing with his buddies Frank Rossi Sr; Dick D'Amico, Dr. Frank Albi and Fred Albi. He loved the social aspect of bowling with his brother-in-law, Sam Stern and friend Frank Rossi Sr. He always looked forward to the lunches out with his brother-in-law, Ercole Albo, and his cousin, Mary Albo. As a young man, Dad coached many sports teams and always supported his children. His pride of family continued with each birth of his seven grandchildren. Papa was so proud of each and every one. He was always at their beck and call, whether it was teaching them handy-man skills or animal care, school projects, shopping advice, school concerts, or driving to sports activities. He would always put the needs of his children and grandchildren before his own. He never declined an opportunity to help or babysit. Joe was predeceased by his father, John, mother, Albina, his mother-in-law, Josephine, and his father in law, Gaetano Morello. Remaining to cherish his memory forever are his beloved wife, Teresa, son John (Maria Zirino) and his daughter, Joanne (Charlie Scerbo). Joe also leaves seven precious grandchildren: Mercedes (16), Spencer (14), Daniella (12), and Christian (8) Scerbo, and Joseph (8), Dante (5) and Tessa (3) Albi. He is also survived by one sister in Winnipeg, Meluccia (Ercole), one sister in Vancouver, Florence (Ugo) and two younger brothers in Vancouver, Leo and Silvio, brother in law, Dr. Murray Morello (Catherine) of Scarborough Ontario, sister-in-law, Annette (Sam) Stern of Winnipeg. Sincere thanks to Dr. Frank Albi for his many years of compassion and dedicated care to his cousin and friend Joe. Thanks also to Dr. Jillian Horton of Victoria Hospital for her loving and caring ways. It was truly a blessing for the family to have you with us for dad's final days. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Father John Perry for his prayers and support to dad and the family. A funeral mass with Father John Perry, celebrating Joe's life, will be held at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, on Tuesday, November 7 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. We will remember you, always. We love you, Papa. When tomorrow starts without me Don't think we're far apart, For every time you think of me I'm right here, in your heart.
