GARRY RONALD MUNSON April 7, 1941 - November 4, 2006 After a well-fought and courageous battle with a brain tumour, Garry took his final journey in life at Riverview Health Centre. He leaves his loving wife Carol, his sister Gail (Neil) Dunn, nephews Dean (Loretta) Dunn and David Dunn, niece Lori (Bob) Hawrylak and great nieces, Lindsey and Jessica Dunn, Katryna and Alexandra Hawrylak and mother in law Gertrude Stewart and many cousins. Garry was pre-deceased by his parents Irene and Wallace Munson, and father in law Edward Stewart. Garry grew up in Newdale, Manitoba and began his illustrious teaching career at an early age in High Bluff. He then moved to Stonewall where he spent 34 years at Centennial School, most of which was in the capacity of Vice Principal. His passions were History and Geography, but his greatest pride was helping to establish the school library that now bears his name. Garry tackled all challenges and tasks that were asked of him with great care. One of his outstanding characteristics was efficiency and he felt if a job was worth doing it was worth doing well. His many friendships made during his teaching career were not forgotten and he always tried to keep in touch after his retirement even though it became increasingly more difficult due to his illness. Several years were spent involved and working with the Transcona Jaycees where many life long friendships were cultivated and never forgotten. Retirement was filled with trips to foreign and exotic places, with summers spent at Clearwater Bay, ON and many winters were passed in Arizona and Florida. Garry was a lover of sports, especially baseball and curling which were played with joy and an intense competitive spirit. Golf became a very large part of his life and he was always ready for a game. Although we had 40 years together my dear Garry, time has passed by too quickly. I will always cherish our wonderful memories together and I know one day we will meet again on the other side. I love you with all my heart and I will miss you terribly. Sweet dreams my love. The family would like to offer special thanks to his close friends, Bob Moroz and Ed Nickerson who were always there for him in times of need. Thanks, also, to all the Health Care workers at Cancer Care and Riverview 3 East. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at Thomson In the Park , 1291 McGillivary Boulevard on Wednesday November 8 at 2.00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Brain Cancer Research, Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave.,Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E OV9.
