NICHOLAS (NICK) KOZUBNIAK Peacefully on November 4, 2006, with his loving wife by his side Nick Kozubniak passed away at Concordia Hospital at the age of 83. Nick will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Mary of 57 years; daughter Diane (Robert Baldwinson) and their children; Lisa and David, daughter, Darlene (Perry Kohli) and their children Matthew and Sean. He will also be missed by his sister Matilda (Walter Hykaway), brother Victor Burt and numerous family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Nettie, Tina, Elsie, Anne and brother Peter. Nick was born in Ethelbert on January 4, 1923 where he lived until he moved to Winnipeg in 1946. In 1948, Nick met the love of his life, Mary, and they married later that year. In 1949, Nick began married life as a restaurant owner. This venture spanned 17 years operating five different small restaurants. From there, he was employed by Versatile until his retirement in 1985. Nick's faith in the Lord was an important part of his daily life and he encouraged the same for his daughters. He was an amazing gardener, an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Caners and the nurses at Concordia Hospital as well as the respite care workers for their care and compassion. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday November 8 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, corner of Watt and Munroe. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, also at the church with Fr. Michael Winn officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
