PATRICIA MARGARET PILOUS September 17, 1928 - November 4, 2006 On November 4, 2006 we said our last good-bye to our dear niece, cousin and friend, Pat Pilous. She has gone to join her parents Max and Jessie Pilous, her Aunt Jean Graham, who was like the sister she never had, and many other aunts, uncles and cousins of the Graham and Pilous families, who have left this earth before her. Pat was the only child of Max and Jessie Pilous. She was born in Winnipeg on September 17, 1928 and was an inquisitive child. She claimed she questioned her mother from pretty much the day she was born. As she grew, her curiosity would often have her mom answer, Pat, just because . A vivacious and adventurous girl, Pat enjoyed her family, friends and exploring new ideas. Her adventuresome nature took her to the Bahamas where she worked at the Sheraton British Colonial Hotel in Nassau for several years. She made some very good friends including Mary Ledwith who now resides in Florida and Faye Nicholson who calls Scotland home. Both ladies have been in touch with Pat during her illness. Pat loved to regale the family with stories such as the time a purse snatcher broke into her room and she stood up to him, only to realize later that she was in her nighty and that he might have had a gun! And how her pal, Faye, from the adjoining room came streaking in and the 2 of them scared this robber off, although he did manage to snatch her purse. Upon her return to Winnipeg, she joined the office staff of the RCMP where she spent the balance of her career. Her natural curiosity about everything made her a welcome fit to the detachment's office and she loved both the work and the people. She retired after 39 happy years in August 1993. Pat adored her parents and was a kind, devoted daughter who nursed both her parents during their times of illness. She loved her extended family as well and enjoyed the many Graham family get togethers, parties, boxing day at the Peary's, birthdays, and lunch visits with her aunties Charlotte Colpitts (Dot), Georgina Hagman (Ina), and Jean Graham. Perkins will surely miss their business!! Ina will miss her daily phone calls tremendously, and so will Dot. Pat also had a special bond with her dad's family Georgina Stevens, Irene Lindsay (Stevens), Jimmy Stevens, Thelma Stevens, and the rest of their families. She'd often join them for dinner after service at Sparling United Church. In 1952, Pat met another Pat.Pat Litwin. The two young girls looking for fun and adventure became the best of friends. Pat and Pat were the kind of friends we all wish we had. They were there for each other in both good times and bad. They laughed and cried together. When boyfriends came and wentthey helped each other move on. Our Pat loved to travel and among her holidays she included many trips to Jamaica, Nassau, Barbados, and Hawaii as well as closer jaunts within Canada and the States. Pat Litwin joined her on many of these adventures and both loved Hawaii the best. Even in the rain she enjoyed exploring the islands, drinking' rum and having fun. Pat had a wonderful group of friends including Ollie Dilay, Vicki Elliot, Betty Wohlgemut and Pat Litwin. The 5 ladies enjoyed weekends at Minaki Lodge and a trip to the World's Fair in Vancouver including the Oregon Coast. They shared varied interests from outdoor picnics to elaborate dinnershockey gamesthe theatreballetand just plain hanging out. They enjoyed each others company and spent good times around the dining room table, talking and feasting on Pat Litwin's home- made soups! Patricia Margaret Pilous enjoyed her life, her family and her friends. We're sorry she had to leave so early but we're thankful that her pain is over and that she is now where there is no more pain and sorrow . The family extends our thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Spiritual Advisor of the Fifth Floor- Units 5, 3, and 1 at Seven Oaks Hospital; the kind and loving ladies from We Care; and the many family and friends who visited during her illness. Also sincere gratitude to Linda Demers and Mary Hagman for all their intervention, help and support. At her request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pat's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street with Reverend Scott MacAuley officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
