ALLAN EDWARD OBIREK It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle Allan Edward Obirek on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 75 years of age. Allan was born on April 3, 1931 in Selkirk, MB. He resided all his life in Highland Glen, MB. He is survived by his sister and best friend Aileen Bukowski, his special niece Ashley and his two nephews, Arnie and Allan (Denise). He was also very close to his two great-nieces, Alyssa and Arielle, who were very special to him and step-nephew, Tristan Nicholas. He also leaves two special aunties, Phyllis Faryon of California and Jean Farion of Highland Glen. Also left to cherish his memory are his close friends Walter and Olga Horyski, Larry and Marianne Wolowich, Ernie Mulla and Mavis and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded by his parents; Vincent Obirek, April 4, 1984; mother Caroline, April 15, 1994; grandparents, Martin and Apolina Faryon, John and Mary Kordupel and numerous aunts and uncles. Allan enjoyed a long career at Carlings and Molson breweries for over 30 years, while he pursued his love of farming in Highland Glen until his retirement. Allan loved to travel in his van and visited many states across the United States and numerous provinces in Canada. He was a very kind and generous uncle who took great pride in all of our achievements. He loved to lend a hand and provide his expertise in guidance of the homestead farm. He also loved to go to auction sale with his nephew Arnie. He was always there for his family and anyone else who needed a helping hand or an ear to listen. Prayers will be said on Thursday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. A Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Martin Bradbury will be held on Friday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in Cooks Creek, MB. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. We would like to thank the staff Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Chung and nurse Susan as well Selkirk Home Care nurses including Susan, Heather and Ann. Loving and kind in all his ways Upright and just to the end of his days Sincere and kind in heart and mind What a beautiful memory he left behind Allan's arrangements have been entrusted to: Gilbarts Funeral Chapel in Selkirk.
