Ida was born February 23, 1926 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sunny St. James area. Ida met her true love, Douglas, in Winnipeg and they were married January 8, 1945. Douglas's military career took the family many places throughout Canada, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia where Mom and Dad made numerous life long friends. Much to Mom's delight, in 1970 Dad was stationed to Winnipeg where they decided to remain, Mom was happy to return to her hometown of Winnipeg to be near her beloved parents and family again! Mom began working outside the home at the Base Exchange in Chilliwack, BC in 1967. She continued at the CFB Cannex in Winnipeg, MB, and then at Bristol Aerospace until her retirement in 1988. Ida spent many glorious summers at Wildwood Park Resort, mom and dad called it their heaven on earth. Ida was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. To know her was to love her! Ida embraced life, LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH, this was Ida! Our home was filled with joy and love because of Mom's beautiful spirit, her gentleness and kindness. This love and joy extended beyond our home to many lives she touched along the way. Her inner strength inspired us! Her faith in God never faltered! We give thanks to our Lord for the gift of such a loving Mother, we are truly blessed! She will be missed and loved always . A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow.
