Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Donelle was a dear, dear friend in the 1970s when we were close neighbours in Richmond and Surrey. We had babies and toddlers and spent many hours enjoying each other's company. Donelle organized a ladies' morning Bible study that was a highlight of the week. We coffeed and crocheted items for our little ones. When life's circumstances took us to different provinces we kept up for a few years, and met a few more times...twice in Surrey, and once in Saskatoon...but unfortunately after a few years the letters stopped. We didn't mean to lose touch, but it happened. I thought of Donelle so often, but life gets busy and I couldn't think of a way to find her. Then a few weeks ago I started an all-out search. It was as if she had fallen off the face of the earth. Facebook, Google, Vital Statistics, Ancestry, obituary searches, all drew a blank. I couldn't find her name anywhere! But I did find clues on Facebook that told me this search would not end well. It was sobering to think a wonderful person could live a full and productive life, and there didn't seem to be a hint of her existence anywhere. Then, finally, I thought of the Winnipeg Free Press. I located the obituary search engine, and there it was, Donelle's beautiful smiling face. If only we hadn't lost touch...but that is how life goes, and we all have many regrets. I hope, Andrew and Jarem, that you will keep your mother's memory alive for your children, because she was a treasure. - Posted by: Dianne Rabel (Friend) on: Dec 28, 2014
