Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGUSTAV TONN Gustav Tonn, aged 89 years, of Beausejour, passed away on November 6, 2006. Uncle Gus was born in the Brokenhead Municipality on July 23, 1917. He attended school in the area, helped out on the family farm and worked in the bush at logging camps for many years before becoming a well-known and respected carpenter/contractor. Many of his projects can still be seen in various communities around the province. Gustav's mother lived in the house that Gus built and it became his permanent residence until the fall of 2006. Upon retiring, he took up small wood-working projects, and loved to make unique games and utensils. Whether he was farming, constructing/repairing buildings, fishing or hunting, Uncle Gus always had a story to share, specifically the lessons he had taught others. He loved having company over for drinks or going to local business' for his daily coffee with his buddies. Gus was an avid gardener, and many commented that his garden was the nicest in town. Gustav was predeceased by his brothers, Mike, Henry, Harold and Emil Tonn, and his sisters, Lydia Scheer, Martha Lodon, Anna Foster and Sarah Keilback. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Elsa Jones of Hillsboro, Oregon; his sister-in-law Margaret Tonn of Winnipeg, and many close relatives, friends and neighbours. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Van Rensburg, various specialists, and the staff at the Beausejour and Grace Hospitals. Special mention to Eve Pawlyk who provided friendship and care to Uncle Gus for the last few years. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday (tonight), November 9, 2006 between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church, Beausejour, Manitoba with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at the Green Bay Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made in Gustav's name to the Beausejour Hospital Equipment Fund.
