RALPH FRANKLIN HARRIS July 15, 1922 - November 6, 2006 On November 6, 2006, Ralph passed away at Misericordia Health Centre. Born in Dartmouth, NS, he lived in Vancouver and Edmonton before his family moved to Toronto while he was still a young boy. He was a Lieutenant in the Second Survey Regiment during the Second World War and saw action in Italy where he was wounded. After the War he attended Trinity College at the University of Toronto and studied finance. He met Rosamond Neild there and they were married on September 10, 1948. They lived in Boston while he was a graduate student at Harvard University and then they lived in Palo Alto when he taught at Stanford University. In 1956 he was appointed as Director of the School of Commerce at the University of Manitoba. After nine years as Director, he moved to the Department of Economics where he taught Economic Thought. He enjoyed teaching students and advised numerous graduate students over the years. Many of his graduate students kept in touch with him long after they had graduated. He had a life-long interest in finance as well as in transportation. He was particularly interested in Canadian aviation regulations. He had a passion for genealogy and had traced his family roots back many generations. He shared this passion with his cousin Nita and met many people through his research. Ralph was interested in national and international politics throughout his life. Ralph was predeceased by his wife Rosamond in 2003. He leaves behind his daughter Madeleine of Winnipeg and cousins, Jean and Sheila of Halifax, Nita of Charlottetown and Philip of Victoria along with their respective families. Sincere thanks to the staff of Wolseley 3 at Misericordia for their care and compassion during his last days. The staff on Wolseley 3, and previously those on Wolseley 2, were always friendly and kind while providing excellent care. Cremation has taken place. As per his request, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or any other charity of one's choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

A great scholar and teacher. Described the nuanced spectrum between private and public sectors. Inadequate tribute to him in Asper School 75th anniversary publication. RK - Posted by: Russell Kalmacoff BComm(Manitoba) MBA(UCBerkeley) (Student - Government&Enterprise 1963/4) on: Dec 29, 2015
