STEPHEN TOPOLNICKI The family celebrates the life of Stephen Topolnicki who was known as a son, brother, nephew, uncle, great-uncle and friend. Stephen passed away peacefully at 7:55 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2006, at the Roblin Hospital at the age of 92 years. Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Nykola and Tatiana Topolnicki, his brothers, Joe, Alex, and Paul Topolnicki; two sisters Agnes and Tina, and two nephews, Walter Topolnicki and Merlin Topolnitsky. Stephen is survived by brother-in-law William Woodward from Edmonton, AB, one nephew, Mike Topolnitsky of Winnipeg, MB, three nieces, Jean Yakymchuk and Rose Kozakowski both from Grandview, MB, Elsye (Jerry) Reader of Moose Jaw, SK, Mary Topolnicki of Roblin, wife of the late Walter Topolnicki, and Rose Topolnitsky of Roblin, wife of the late Merlin Topolnitsky, as well as many great-nieces and nephews and extended family. Stephen was born in Olha, MB, January 13, 1914. He farmed at Olha, later moving to Birds Hill, MB, where he worked with the military army as an electrician. Stephen enjoyed the single life by taking an interest in photography, horse racing, the stock market and traveling to his home town, Olha. Stephen had a passion for going out to the beaches using his metal detector to find jewellery in the sandy beaches of Manitoba. In 2000 Stephen became too ill to care for himself. His last six years were spent at the Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin where he celebrated birthdays, games, and friendship with family and friends. Stephen's blue eyes captivated anyone he met and he will be fondly remembered by all who walked in his path... Funeral Service was held November 3 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home, Roblin, MB, with Rev. Fr. Yaroslav Strukhlyak officiating, assisted by cantor Tony Yuriy. The eulogy was written and read by Gwen Ristau, daughter of Rose and the late Merlin Topolnitsky. Casket Bearers were Wayne Slone, Tony Yuriy, Julian Mushumanski, Frank Nizmowski, Wally Maydaniuk and Tony Twerdohlib. Following the service, a hot dinner was served at the banquet room of Chicken Delight Restaurant. Interment prayers followed at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery, Olha, MB. Memorial gifts to honor the life of Stephen Topolnicki may be made to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery Ltd., Olha, MB.
